Alchemy of Beasts - Patch 4 - The Curse Update


After months of work, the CURSE UPDATE is finally here. 
The core gameplay linked to Curses is finally here. There was already 3 different curses, but now, each of them has its own traits and so, their own cure ! Look for clues within the forest and YOURSELF to be able to brew the correct potion to be able to escape the nature God influence, at least, for some time. Have fun discovering new mechanics and secrets around the forest !

PATCH NOTE 4.0

CHANGES :

• The Mirror in the Lab is now available and gives you the ability to inspect yourself for any changes that might occur to help you identify your curse.
• Grimoire Ingredients page has been reworked and now display actual available ingredients in the demo and their element
• 2 new gatherables added, one having an unique way to be found
• Most gatherables has now random spawn spots
• if the player lacks an ingredient, it is guaranteed to spawn one ingredient node of that specific ingredient on all maps
• Green Hand, Fairy Ring and Cornupia potions have a bit more interesting effect than just double gathering result
• 3 potions against the Curse are now available (up from one)
• Grimoire Curse page now indicated more clues on how to brew the correct potion, linked to Curse traits found
• Beast pages also has been changed to be more linked to your own observations and possible changes
• Clue page has been updated. Now also includes a secret.
• Choosing the wrong "cure" potion has consequences
• Using one of the "cure" potion will also result in an additional event
• It is now possible to store items in the chest under the stairs
• How to understand the Grimoire runes has been totally redone
• New animations and objects added to translate the Grimoire
• Each Curse now also affect player appearance in minor ways
• Apparitions are now dependent on some curses
• Some changes may have idle animations
• Materials react to touch under specific curses
• Ambiance changes as time limit is getting closer
• Your batty friend will react if a change happens near them (reaction change depending on the severity of the change)
• Note found in the lab is now placed in the Grimoire
• Silver node placement has been changed
• Removed Critical gathering
• Mist has a chance to steal a Tool instead of time
• Mist will sometimes teleport back Player somewhere else than where they got caught
• You can sleep on the bed in the lab to skip some time (the Curse doesn't sleep)
• A new rare item with magic properties has been added
• More lore

QUALITY Of LIFE :

• Ingredients and Potions pages now have tooltips to better understand symbols
• New symbols to identify elements to avoid stacking
• More lines has be added to the grimoire to give a bit more hints
• New visuals for powders and potions, which will hopefully make them easier to distinguish for colorblind players
• Added a confirmation when using one of the potential "cure" potion
• Some adjustments on throwing potion animation so the explosion animation gives a better idea of the AOE explosion
• Reworked secrets to be more clear on their use

BUG FIXES :

• Cancel button now works properly in crafting and reading menus
• Transitions tiles should now block the player when changing to prevent OOB
• Amber had only a weight of 1 during the inventory check instead of 2, making it able to have 21/20 weight
• Amber and Silver now appear correctly in the Grimoire after collecting them.
• It was also possible to go above the limit if two resources were collected at the same frame
• Process wasn't exiting properly when a change happened while waiting for player's inputs
• It's not possible to open grimoire when reading the Lab note anymore
• Agility potion crafting don't need an order of ingredient anymore
• It shoudn't be possible to add a third ingredient in the cauldron with some precise timing.
• Drinking a Agility potion in the bush will not give you hyperspeed when exiting it
• Amber are now properly thrown away via hotkeys... and doesn't throw Silver away !
• Fog should be more optimized now and cause less performance issue in the main forest map
• Controls rebinds has be removed for now to avoid conflicts
• Added a Limit FPS option which should help for stability for some people as well as ensuring real game speed.
• Divided particles generators by 2 and added a better limit for low end PCs (1000 particles, was 10000)
• Mist should now be able to appear again in maps where the player was already caught by it
• Time penalty from being caught by the Mist should now starts with the animation. Before, it was possible to "skip" the penalty if you got caught just after a clock tick.
• Using the X key during Changes animations shouldn't move the player's direction anymore
• Ambers will not spawn at the same time from trees as it was making it easy to bypass weight limit
• When canceling crafting, the camera should now reset properly (and not go out of bound by spamming cancel craft)
• Visions should appear more often when effect is active

Again, thank you all for your support ! Next update will possibly be the last one for the prototype, and you guessed it, will finally introduce the other type of beasts !

So can I get more kind of curse in this version now? I always transfur into a fox in this version.

Hello ! As told in the devlog, this patch work on the whole Curse mechanic and how to fight it. There is still 3 different forms for the fox.  More animals are planned for next update.
